If you discover a mess that has happended without your knowledge, take the dachsund puppy in another place and make the spot clear. Please do not shout at your dog in any other way. If he goes in the house, you fell down on the job.
To properly housebreak your Dachsund , be aware of your responsibility as a master and dont scold him in case of an accident as contrarily it will increase fear and misfaith in your dog.
When the occasion comes that there have been no accidents in the house for two weeks straight and when you can tell that your dachsund dog is understanding what "Go potty" means, you may start extending his "free time" out of the crate. If there is an accident, you may have made a decision speedily. Keep in mind that this is a baby you are coping with; he cannot grow any faster than his maturity level will allow him.
The procedure for older dachsund dogs is very much the same. Remember - even dogs who are purportedly completely housebroken may have a number of "accidents" as they get accustomed to their new environment.
Frequently, dachsunds of both sexes will "mark" their land so that any probable opponents are alerted that this is now their "territory".
Even an adult dog must be permitted to leave the crate within a span of three hours. A more realistic schedule for an adult dog is upon awaking. Most dogs (like people!) will urinate within a few seconds of awakening. Many will have a bowel movement within minutes of waking up.
Permit the older dog an hour or so free in the house. Then out again at lunch and another hour or so of free time. Back in the crate. Out again around dinner time which is normally when the dog will both urinate and defecate once more.
If so, your dog can interact with the family and view TV or lounge with you until the time you go to bed. Keep in mind to pull him out to his potty spot before he gets in to the crate to sleep. Otherwise, apply the same techniques and schedule using the same area, the same potty word, the same cookies, etc.
Properly and constantly applying this method of instructions I have had no failures - and neither will you. Almost all dog has been reliable within three weeks of beginning his training. You must abide by your schedule of taking him out for the potty if he successfully completes the work. Dont forget to reward or present him with cookies for his fabulous job.
If your dog is not aided by this training, talk to a veterinary instructor. Put him at an area where he cannot observe you cleaning it up.
